Line Voltage vs Low Voltage Potlights (120V vs 12V)

Know the difference between a low voltage potlight and a line voltage potlight, as they each have different uses.
Low voltage potlights are a little brighter and require the use of a transformer, which can emit a low buzzing sound that some people find annoying.  They do emit less heat than line voltage potlights though, and the bulbs can last about 30 percent longer.

Line voltage potlights consume just about the same amount of energy and any lighting that uses LED bulbs will be line voltage.  Both types can be dimmed.

Each of these options is a consideration you have to make when choosing the type of potlight you will be using.  Our qualified electrical experts will discuss the best solutions for you.

We can discuss with you the features and benefits of each type, and help you make the best decision for your home.
